Exposed to Traffic

Photography by Ingrid Dietrich

The concept of Christmas lighting shouldn't be limited to what we are used to, a house or a garden decorated with lights, the traditional Christmas tree, etc. Angelinos are exposed to at least one hour of traffic a day. As the holidays approach, the traffic gets worse. This year, I decided to capture the other side of Christmas in Los Angeles, while using the same theme, lighting.
I waited 30 minutes after the sunset to start shooting. I set my camera to long exposures of 8, 6, and 3 seconds to capture these images. I shot images in the 405 freeway, 110 freeway, 90 freeway, etc. As I moved from lane to lane, the images turned into something completely different, and I loved it!.
Once I got home from my long ride, I was so happy to see these colorful red, orange, green, and blue images. Merry Christmas Los Angeles!!!
